How To Start A Game
This page will explain what is needed for an entry into the "A Lord of Bretonnia" play-by-email game. It must be said, however, that only six (6) lords will be able to play at any one time. However, after the first six lords have entered, further entries will be put onto a waiting list (if they want to be put on the list, that is), and those at the top of the list will be offered the chance to play when a position becomes available.
NOTE: The Waiting List is now full, no more entries will be accepted.
Email all entries to Me.
Entries must include articles with Required next to them, articles with Optional next to them may, or may not, be included, it is up to the entrant. Here is what is required, and optional, for an entry:
- The name of the lord (i.e. Lord Maximus). Required
- The name of the lord's estate (i.e. Chateau Maximus). Required
- The name of the lord's attendant Scribe (i.e. Scribe Darrius). Optional, if not included, I will make a name up.
- Where the estate is located (see below for some examples). Required
- Heraldry to represent the lord and/or his estate. Optional
- Background text either about the lord, his new estate or both. Optional. If included, make it as long or as short as you want.
If you are having some trouble working out where you want your estate, here are some examples:
- The foot hills of Irrana Mountains.
- The shores and/or beaches of the Great Ocean.
- The shores and/or beaches of the Sea of Claws.
- The border between Bretonnia and Estalia.
- In or around the Forest of Chalons or the Forest of Arden.
- The foot hills of the Grey Mountains or Pale Sisters.
- Near the Loren Forest.
- The border between Bretonnia and the Empire.
- The foot hills of the Massif Orcal.
Of course, these are not the only options available, and any other viable position that a lord nominates will be great.
Once I have received the entry email and entered the lord in as one of the six, a map shall then be drawn up of the new lord's estate. For an example of a map, look Here.
Once the map has been drawn, and the other five lords have joined and had their maps drawn, the game will begin. As I have said the game begins at Spring of Year 1 (in game time, of course), and any lords who take the place of an old lord will start at Spring (as all lord's turns are played out in unison. So, for example, all players must finish the Summer Season, before the Autumn Season can begin) of the following year, in game time.
At any time, a lord may choose to end his reign as lord of his estate, by merely informing his attendant Scribe during any turn's Decision Phase. The lord either dies, takes a vow of poverty, gives up all of his worldly possessions and goes searching for the Holy Grail, or some other good explanation for the sudden end of his reign. At this point, the next lord on the waiting list will be added to the six (and the leaving lord will be removed) lords participating in the game. A map shall be drawn for this new lord, and he shall begin his reign in the next Spring that happens.
On a final note, during the annual Jousting Tournaments and Trial of Steel Tournaments that are held on my site, the A Lord of Bretonnia game will be paused. It will, however, continue as soon as those events are finished.
This game is only fan rules, and no challenge is intended to any of the rights of Games Workshop. As I said, these rules are merely fan rules. Enjoy!
