ROUND TWO

Ellanion Lethel VS Sir Bran

Sir Ryanent VS Joc'de Tayl'ore
Sir Ralph VS Sir Hillier

Duc Marshellieu VS Hercule Achille

It was mid-morning and the crowd had again gathered into the pavilions and were ready for another day of excitement. The fanfare of trumpets blasted through the air, heralding the arrival of the Knights into the Tilt-yard. Some of their number looked healthy and strong, ready for whatever anyone could throw at them whilst others looked badly injured and clutched at wounds. Those Knights who were injured in the previous round would be disadvantaged in this and later rounds.

The Herald appeared in his pavilion box and held a new piece of parchment in his hands. He read off it loudly "The first match of this, the second day of competition, will be fought between the successful Elf, Ellanion Lethel, and Sir Bran Belfort, Knight of Rosemont Castle in the province of Quenelles!!!". As the Knights took their positions in the Tilt-yard the crowd was buzzing with talking, betting and laughter.

VS

Ellanion Lethel
(No Virtues) - (0-0)

Sir Bran Belfort
(Purity Virtue) - (2-2)

The day's events commenced with a cry from the spectators and a signal from the Herald. Ellanion Lethel aimed for his opponent's Helmet while Sir Bran aimed for his foe's Shield. Sir Bran struck first, hit and successfully broke his lance with a roll of 6 and then 6. A failed armour save roll of 4 saw the Elf's armour punched through and Ellanion took a wound. He stayed on his horse with a roll of 5 however, using his masterful horsemanship skill. On his return attack, Ellanion hit on a 5 but failed to break his lance with a roll of 2, he just scratched the side of Sir Bran's Helm.

The Knights changed tactics for the second pass, this time Sir Bran aimed at his opponent's Helmet and Ellanion targeted the Shield of his foe. Ellanion struck first, hit on a 4 but did not break his lance with a roll of 1, Ellanion was starting to get annoyed for his lance was not breaking. Sir Bran hit on a roll of 5 and his lance was shattered into small pieces with a further roll of 6. Ellanion failed his armour save on a 4 so he took another wound. A further roll of 5 again saw the Elf stay in his saddle.

For the third pass, the badly wounded Ellanion returned his aim to his opponent's Helmet. Sir Bran targeted the Elf's Shield. Sir Bran attacked first and missed on a 2. Ellanion struck back and hit on a 5 and succeeded in breaking his first lance on a 3 (because he was aiming for the Helmet). A failed armour save (5 re-rolled from 3 due to Purity Virtue, but still not enough due to Ellanion aiming for the Helmet.) meant that Sir Bran suffered a wound but stayed on his horse with a roll of 5.

The crowd roared at the end of the match, applauding Sir Bran Belfort's noble victory and the Elf's skill and sportsmanship.

Sir Bran Belfort, Knight of Rosemont Castle in the province of Quenelles won by having more LANCE BREAKS than his Elven opposition.

A short interlude of entertainment and music played out for half an hour, with fire-eaters and dancers performing for the enjoyment of the crowd. Once the entertainment had finished, the Herald arose from his seat "Next, Sir Ryanent D. Cooke, "The Golden Warrior", will face Joc'de Tayl'ore!!!" These two Knights had done well in their previous matches and the crowd cheered loudly for them both.

VS

Sir Ryanent D. Cooke
(Purity Virtue) - (4-4)

Joc'de Tayl'ore
(Valour Virtue) - (4-4)

Joc'de Tayl'ore and Sir Ryanent charged full-speed towards each other, much to the onlookers' enjoyment. Joc'de Tayl'ore is in perfect health but Sir Ryanent nurses some minor injuries (1 Wound was taken last round). Joc'de Tayl'ore aims at Sir Ryanent's shield whilst Sir Ryanent aims for his opponent's Helm. When they meet mid-way at the Tilt-yard Joc'de Tayl'ore striked first, hitting Sir Ryanent ( a 4 re-rolled from a 1) and breaking his lance on a 5, sending broken pieces of lance falling to the ground. Sir Ryanent's armour saves him on a 6 so he is unharmed. Next, Sir Ryanent's attack hits on a 4 but is too weak to break his lance, the unlucky Knight rolled a 1.

In a masterful show of equestrian skill, both Knights kept going at full speed as they turn around and charge headlong at each other once more. Joc'de Tayl'ore aims once more at his opponent's Shield, Sir Ryanent aims at Joc'de Tayl'ore's Helm. Joc'de Tayl'ore attacks first, hitting on a 6 and breaking his second lance on a 5, showering the dirt with more wood splinters. Sir Ryanent had a good blacksmith however and again successfully armour saved on a 5. Sir Ryanent's attack missed by a tiny measure on a 3.

In the third and final pass, both Knights continued to aim at their old targets, Joc'de Tayl'ore aiming at the Shield and Sir Ryanent aiming for his opponent's Helm. With a 5 (re-rolled from 1) and a 4 (re-rolled from 3) Joc'de Tayl'ore breaks his third lance, again Sir Ryanent's armour saves him with a roll of 5!!! Sir Ryanent hits with his lance on a 4 and breaks it into small pieces on Joc'de Tayl'ore with a 6. The person who designed these two Knight's armour was good though, as Joc'de Tayl'ore armour saved on a 6!!! Even with this final lance break it is Joc'de Tayl'ore who claims victory, Joc'de Tayl'ore is still uninjured.

Despite Sir Ryanent's injuries he jousted well and was a fine example of courage. However, Joc'de Tayl'ore once more displayed his skill with the lance by coming out of his joust unharmed once again.

Joc'de Tayl'ore won by having more LANCE BREAKS than his opponent.

The crowd was very excited now and people were placing bets on who they thought will win their jousts. The crowd was silenced by one hand raised from the Herald, who then spoke "The third joust today will be between the noble Duke of Brionne, Sir Ralph and his opponent, Sir Hillier!!!" The Herald then sat back down. The crowd returned to jovial excitement as the Knights prepared for the joust.

VS

Sir Ralph
(Purity Virtue) - (0-0)

Sir Hillier
(Discipline Virtue) - (0-0)

The cries and shouts of the crowd signaled the Knight's charge, Sir Hillier was badly wounded (he had taken 2 wounds previously) but still managed to spur his horse towards Sir Ralph. Sir Ralph aims at his opponent's Helm, Sir Hillier tries valiantly to aim at his opponent's Shield. Sir Hillier strikes first and hits on a 6, his lance fails to break however and is pushed aside by his opponent's Shield on a 1. Sir Ralph attacks back and hits on a 5 and breaks his first lance on a 6. A failed armour save of 3 sees the attack go straight through his armour and wound him, this means he has taken 3 wounds and he falls, struggling to hold on, from his horse.

With this surprisingly quick end to the joust, the crowd applauded Sir Hillier's bravery and Sir Ralph's skill. As the valourous but knocked out Sir Hillier was stretchered off to the Healer's tent, Sir Ralph rode off to celebrate.

Sir Ralph, the Duke of Brionne won by KNOCKING OUT Sir Hillier.

"For the final joust of today, Duc Marshellieu, still wounded from his previous joust, must face Hercule Achille du Bois Guilbert!!!" Announced the Herald. With the mention of Hercule Achille's name, many Damsels sighed and swooned. Again, much to the wonder of the men in the pavilions.

VS

Duc Marshellieu du Parravon
(Noble Disdain Virtue) - (3-3)

Hercule Achille du Bois Guilbert
(Valour Virtue) - (6-4)

As the cheering crowd urged them on, both Knights lowered their lances and spurred their warhorses forward. Hercule Achille had minor wounds (1 Wound) from the last joust while Duc Marshellieu had suffered more palpable (2 Wounds) wounds. Both Knight's aimed at each other's Shields. They met and struck at each other at the extact same moment, Marshellieu missed by a long distance on a 1. Hercule Achille hit on a 5 (re-rolled from a 2) and broke his first lance on a 6. Duc Marshellieu armour saved on a 6, so he was safe from harm.

After a sharp turn both Knights charged at each other once more for the second pass. Keeping their aim at each other's Shields. They again attacked each other at the same time. Duc Marshellieu hit on a 6 but failed to break his lance with a roll of 3, the lance bended slightly but did not break. Hercule Achille hit with a 6 and broke his second lance easily (a roll of 5 to break) but again Duc Marshellieu's armour held on a 6!!! The crowd was filled with fans calling to their favoured Knight and chanting people.

On the third pass both Knight's aimed at each other's Helmets. This would decide the match, Duc Marshellieu was too wounded and could not get his aim straight and missed again with another roll of 1. Hercule Achille hit on a 5 and snapped his third lance with a roll of 3 (re-rolled from 2) but yet again Duc Marshellieu's armour was strong enough to take the blow and armour saved with a roll of 6! The onlookers screamed, cheered and applauded as the two Knights saluted them.

Hercule Achille du Bois Guilbert won by having more LANCE BREAKS than his opponent. This pleases the women in the pavilions greatly.

The second day was coming to an end and four more Knights had been eliminated from the Tournament. Two of the four left were slightly bruised (Sir Bran and Hercule Achille) and the other two were still in perfect health (Sir Ralph, Joc'de Tayl'ore) but all four did not know if they would win.

They stood before the crowd and the Herald, and were given a long and hearty round of applause from the joyous onlookers. The Herald finished the day again with one last announcement to the surviving Knights "The four Knights that now stand before me have not only been deemed worthy of the Blessed Helm, but also have the skill to earn it. Tomorrow two more of you shall be eliminated from the competition by your fellow Knights.". With that, the crowd and the Knights left the arena, but they would soon return however...
