AWARDS CEREMONY
When the Knights arrived at Gisoreux castle to participate in the Awards Ceremony, they headed to the main hall inside. Rich nobles and favoured merchants were allowed inside the mighty fortress, but the Peasant-folk were left outside and not allowed in. Slightly peeved, they went home thoroughly entertained nonetheless.
The main hall was a lavish and well decorated space that housed many statues, decorations and a massive rug that covered the floor of the entire chamber. The sixteen Knights bent down on one knee and bowed their heads in the direction of the Duke's seat that was resting against the northern wall, on which sat the King's Herald. An amazingly detailed and carved table sat next to the Duke's seat, the crimson Blessed Helm rested on the table and was flanked by 6 gold trophies, each trophy depicted a Grail Knight riding a charging warhorse.
The trophies were as follows:
- Ladies' Favourite: Awarded to the Knight who received the most Lady's Favours.
- Most Accurate: He who broke the most lances during the Tournament's duration is awarded this trophy.
- Longest Joust: In fact a set of two trophies, one is given to each Knight who participated in the joust that lasted the most passes.
- Most Punishing Lance: Awarded to the Knight who caused the most un-saved wounds during the Tournament.
- Most Endurant: Awarded to the Knight who made the most armour saves.
The rich merchants and nobles ringed the Knights and the Herald and watched them intently. The Herald spoke with a regal voice "Before the victor of the Tournament is awarded the Blessed Helm, 6 awards shall be given to their winners." He cleared his throat and continued "First of all, Hercule Achille du Bois Guilbert is awarded the Ladies' Favourite award. He was undoubtedly the most favoured of the crowd and shall take this trophy as a souvenir from his days Jousting here." A squire fetched the trophy and handed it to Hercule Achille du Bois Guilbert, who nodded gratefully.
The Herald then continued "The Knight deemed to be the Most Accurate amoung you is Sir Ralph, with a total of 8 Lance Breaks, he is closely followed by Joc'de Tayl'ore with 7 and both Sir Bran and Hercule Achille du Bois Guilbert who have 6 each." The squire hands the trophy to Sir Ralph.
After that, the Herald spoke once more "The joust deemed to be the Longest Joust of the Tournament is undoubtedly the match that took place between Duc Marshellieu de Parravon and Sir Jacques Vertig. Which doubled the normal Jousting match length with a total of 6 passes." The pair of trophies were quickly given to their grateful winners.
"Sir Bran Belfort, Knight of Rosemont Castle in the province of Quenelles has been declared the Knight with the Most Punishing Lance. He did a total of 4 wounds on his enemies, his total was drawn with Sir Ralph's but due to Sir Bran getting to the grand total earliest (Sir Bran got to 4 on Round 2, Sir Ralph during The Final Joust) and is thus awarded the trophy." The squire handed the award to its new owner, and Sir Bran humbly bowed his head.
"The Knight deemed Most Endurant by the scribes and onlookers of the Tournament is Joc'de Tayl'ore. With a total of 5 lances harmlessly bouncing off his armour. None even came close to matching his fortitude, the closest runner-ups being Hercule Achille du Bois Guilbert and Sir Ralph, with 3 each." A very happy Joc'de Tayl'ore received his prize with a noble nod of gratitude and very sore ribs.
With a gesture the Herald beckoned Sir Ralph to rise and stand before him. Sir Ralph, keeping his noble posture despite his excitement during this moment of victory, did so. The Herald picked up the crimson Blessed Helm and held it forward to show the gathering of people. "Sir Ralph, you have been proven worthy, skillful enough and strong enough to earn The Lady Of The Lake's blessing, and have been deemed the owner of this sacred relic known as the Blessed Helm. You among all others are chosen, you among all others must use this boon to rid Bretonnia of evil, you among all others, must bring war to our enemies with the aid of the Blessed Helm!" Spoke the Herald in an echoing and noble voice, before placing the Blessed Helm in the hands of Sir Ralph, a cheer rose up from Sir Ralph's brothers-at-arms and the assembled crowd as they applauded his noble victory.
Celebration commenced in the nearby feasting hall. The festivities continued long into the night and each Knight left Gisoreux Castle full and happy, Sir Ralph most of all. What morning would bring for the Knights of Bretonnia, none could know...
