Bretonnian Magic
Prophetesses and Damsels are the spellcasters of Bretonnia, they can select from Heavens, Light, Life and Beasts magic lores.
The magic lore you choose depends on your tactics, and if you get what you want from the list depends on how lucky you are and how kind the dice are to you. Here is what I think about the lores:
- No matter your tactics, Heavens is a great lore, with Comet of Casandora, Portent Of Far, 2nd Sign Of Amul and the three lightning spells, you can't go wrong!
- Light is also a good lore, with some really useful spells, it is more of a lore to help your troops than harm the enemy, with spells like Pha's Illumination, Healing Hand and Guardian Light. Take this lore if you like helping your troops more than slaying foes with magic.
- Life is a kind of pot-luck type of lore, because it has some really effective attack spells, a great spell for slowing down your opponent and also a spell that makes it really hard for enemy archers to hit you! Take this lore if you have a second mage, but put your first on Heavens.
- Beasts is a very animal themed(surprise!) lore, with spells like The Beast Cowers and The Wolf Hunts that directly effects animals, not humanoids. The Crow's Feast is in my opinion one of the best spells in this lore, 2d6 S3 hits! Take this lore if you have a lot of cavalry or monsters, or take it if your opponent does.
Always take at least a level 1 Damsel, because if you don't, your army is easy prey to the evil intentions of enemy wizards, and if you opponent is silly enough to not have a wizard, then his army is at your mercy!
