Hints
This page is devoted to offering helpful hints to the players of the "A Lord of Bretonnia" game. They are aimed at helping beginning lords to build their estate into a grand realm. Here are the hints:
- Spend your starting wealth wisely and aim to improve the Revenue income to your estate.
- ALWAYS ensure that you have enough Food Stocks for your population to survive to the next Harvest. Autumn is the best time to review one's stockpiles of food.
- The Tax Rate alone is not enough to both sustain an estate and fund its growth. Market Squares, excess Food Stocks and many Land Square Upgrades produce extra Revenue.
- If you find you are losing more Revenue than you are making to Upkeep, Lord's Taxes and Men-At-Arm's wages, do not be afraid to raise the Tax Rate, or even perform a Peasant Levy.
- The starting garrison of Men-At-Arms is able to police the realm and offer a feeling of safety to the population, but is not enough to withstand a full-scale assault from the many malevolent forces that prowl the lands.
This game is only fan rules, and no challenge is intended to any of the rights of Games Workshop. As I said, these rules are merely fan rules. Enjoy!
